Practice Photo Shoot

A friend of my friend Tricia was nice enough to let me use her two adorable little girls to practice my photography skills. I was in bad need of some new material to work with on photoshop! I got so many great shots of these cuties! I thought they turned out pretty good being my first time to actually work with little ones.

No lie. This has been one of my "Things to Do Before I Die" list. Of course the actual dream is to pet/swim with dolphins so this is part of the dream.

Heath and I took one last excursion of the summer to Sea World. I started out being grumpy because it rained on us the whole 3 1/2 hrs there. It stopped raining when we got there but it was all humid and i felt gross. But eventually I got over my grumpiness. We checked out the animals then we rode the Steel Eel which about killed me, truely, and the Atlantis. We got soaked and it was nice. Anyway, here are a few pictures I took with my new camera!

Yay! It's a Canon Rebel XSi. I still haven't figured out how to use it....I need to take some classes. But here are some of my very first pictures I have taken. What a busy week it has been! It's been a good time so far. It's fun to see everyone again. I'm hanging out in Heath's class only because I'm actually figuring out this theory stuff. We're in Nasvhille, TN for 2 weeks at Stamps Baxter School of Music. Heath is teaching and I am actually listed under staff! Oooo.... Don't know how that happened. Maybe because I said I wouldn't mind helping out? There is no telling what they'll have me doing but that's alright. Atleast I can skip out on the boring stuff without feeling too guilty. I'm so wore out right now. We just flew back in yesterday evening from a friend's wedding in Georgia and had to get right back on a plane today. It doesn't help that we were up 'til 1am packing. These next couple weeks should be interesting. You just don't get much sleep here....

It's been a while since I have posted. I have had way too many other things on my mind lately. Mostly wedding stuff. We have been working on invitations. We've sent out about 350 or so. Working on invites have left us a little tightly wound and me a little over emotional. And often delirious and obnoxious. I'm sure Heath has wanted to wring my neck a few times....I'll just be glad when it is over.

The family I work for have all been sick for the past two weeks. Like gross stomach virus sick. I pumped myself full of Vitamin C and Airborne. So far so good....I think the scare is about over. Although little C seems to be feeling better and has most of his energy back, he's going to have to be weened off of Noggin (what he has been watching for the past week or so nonstop) and he still can't seem to keep his favorite foods down, much to his disappointment. He's really been missing his Chick-fil-A.

We have one more pre-marital session left to go and we can check that off the list of things to get done before the wedding. It has been pretty helpful. But I will be glad when it is over.

We are soon going to talk to the apartment people about getting a two bedroom apartment. I'll be glad to move out of my tiny home with piles of wedding shower gifts and into one with slightly more room for all the stuff we've been given with my new husband. It will be a huge adjustment but it's gotta be better than living alone. I just have to remember to be cleaner and I'll actually have to learn to cook. Which should be quite interesting.

Well, that's all I have for now.

P.S. I decided to let my hair go natural today. It needs a break from the straightner or I'm not going to have any left!

I am forever in love with this movie. I watched the heck out of my recorded video when I was little, so that it won't even play in some parts. I used to dream I was Anne. I wanted to have her imagination. My friend and I would argue over whether we were Anne or Diana. I wanted terribly to be Anne (I felt I our personalities were more alike), but I had dark hair like Diana (however my friend's personality was more like Diana's). Haha......the good ole days. Right?

I finally got the box on DVD for Christmas this past year. I really *really* like the first movie, really like the second movie, and only like the third. It just gets too crazy and I miss the young Anne with the freckles and braids. I want to get the book set too. I think it would be good to just have them. I hope I have a little girl who loves to read and is a fan of Anne of Green Gables like I am.

Or as close as it is gonna get for me! I bought a 6.5 ft white tree for my apartment. Pre-lit! That's the best kind. I couldn't wait to put it up so last night I put on You've Got Mail, ate a bowl of Fruit Loops then put up my tree! I was kinda sad that I was doing it by myself. I would have rather been putting it up with Heath, but he is out of town for a couple days and I just couldn't bring myself to watch it sit in that box. I think it is so pretty! I don't have a topper for it just yet. There is a REALLY cute sugar cookie shaped one at Target but I kinda want one that lights up so....I'm gonna wait until I find the one I want. But here it is for now!

I'm getting into the holiday spirit. Thanksgiving isn't quite here, but I'm following the lead of every other holiday lover. I've added some new ornaments in my shop. They haven't gotten as many views as my other ornaments got. But I think they are really cute. I'll just use them myself if they don't sell.

I can't believe how fast this year has flown by. It's really insane how many things have changed since I graduated last August and moved to Houston. And I tend to get caught up in all the negative things and forget to look at all the blessings I have been given. Mine and Heath's relationship has really had a chance to grow even deeper. It's like crawling under a cozy blanket and feeling this amazing sense of ..... warmth and love and everything good in life. I'm going to marry him! In less than 7 months! The Lord has blessed us with giving Heath a part time job while he is working on his masters so that we don't go broke living off my meager wages. My family is...well, they are still my family. Gotta love 'em. Thorns and all. :D Life is good. I wish I always saw it that way. But when I begin to get down on myself I am reminded that my life would look like royalty to some. I have a nice place to live, a car that despite how crappy it is starting to look (totally my fault), still gets me where i need to go. I have money to buy whatever food i desire, no serious illnesses and lots of people who care about me. I am truly blessed. I hope you feel the same way.

Smell that? You know, that crisp clean smell? (No not the laundry detergent.) I wake up this morning, it's got to be around 69 degrees outside. Almost cool enough for a light jacket. Ahhhh....what is it about fall? The crispness in the air? The crunch of leaves beneath your feet. Halloween stuff showing up everywhere you go. Not to mention the great fall season shows (The Office!!!!) I've put out all my fall candles, apple and cinnamon. Yummy. I don't know if I will get to carve a pumpkin this year or not but I will make a pumpkin pie for my sweety soon. I love fall; the cooler weather it brings and the nice evening lighting we get when the sun starts to go down. Ahhhhh....

Yeah, he is pretty darn great. I can't imagine anyone else who would put up with me. It's hard to believe I was so worried that I would never finding anyone who would love me like he does. Sad thing is, I could never express exactly what he means to me. He has been such an influence in my life. He doesn't let me beat myself up for the stupid things I do (this happens often!). He makes sure that I follow my dreams. He encourages me when I'm feelin crappy and always believes in me when I don't believe in myself. He seeks God's will in everything and I have no doubt he will be a great spiritual leader for our family. We have so much fun together...even when we are just doing nothing. I remember when I first met him...I kept thinking, this guy is so goofy. But I have found that he is so much more than that. He is a deep thinker and analyzer. He is serious at times and silly at times and so very loving all the time. He never fails to show me how much he cares about me. He is protective without being overly protective. He can be quite sensitive (we both are, yikes!). He's not afraid to express what is in his heart. In fact, he is everything on my "list" and more. What more could a girl ask for? Do you blame me for the *sigh*?? :)

A Little Overwhelming......

I'm moving. And it's a little overwhelming...all the things that are changing in my life right now. Moving to a new apartment...alone, possibly getting a kitten, all the money I'm going to be shelling out in the next few months, planning a wedding, my fiance taking a job as a music & youth minister. Whew, that's a lot to deal with at once! I know I'll make it through, with the help, prayers, and encouragement from friends and family and knowing that God is taking care of everything and seeing the big picture that I don't see. Thank goodness for that! :) If I had to manage this on my own I'd be bad off!

Just thought I'd share this picture. He's grown a lot since I first started keeping him. He's even more animated as well which I didn't think was possible! He is getting so good at drawing now, he has gone from huge scribbles to intricate "characters", as he calls them, and the letters A, L and H. He rocks out to AC/DC on his drums (he will soon be getting an electric guitar *cringe*) and sings in his microphone. He never ceases to amaze me with the things he comes up with. Right now he is into Scooby Doo, especially Shaggy. And just now, he has just walked in here with this git-up:

I'm so excited! I have talked to several different people about selling my items in their online/physical shops. More than half of them have approached me! That makes me really happy that people like my things enough to want to sell them in their shop! So far, these are the places that I will possibly be selling my creations through in the near future:

A physical shop in OH, Hey Pretty Cupcake , O.A.K in Boston, Adorkable, and maybe Hearts and Crafts in Waco, TX (they haven't given me the go-ahead just yet) and The Makery in Louisville, KY. So I'm gonna be all over the place! Yay! I've got a lot of work to do! So I guess I better get on that!! :)

To figure out new things that I can do. I figured out a new stitch that i've never used before. I had a spontaneous fit of creativity today and i unleashed it on a piece of light pink and black glitter felt. I was totally inspired by the television treasury that was on the front page of Etsy today. I just couldn't resist....

It is truly a dream of mine that I hope {hope, hope, hope} will be coming true in the next couple years. But for now, I'm going to try my best to get my name out there. I've got a couple consignment deals going and hope to get more soon just to get some more exposure and hopefully some more business as well! Cause I'm cool like that! I finally reached my two year mark with sprint so i got that nice little discount. This is the phone I chose. It's no IPhone, but ya know, I hear those things are gonna give people such pains because of all the problems they are gonna have. I'm happy to do without one.

Also, I thought I'd take a moment to share with you an Etsy seller I cannot get enough of. If I ever have a little girl, I'm decorating her room with these prints. Maybe I should start collecting now! Belle and Boo is a charming shop of prints and dolls of characters based on the artist's childhood memories. I love her "My Favorite Spot" series.

I bought some Textile medium for my acrylics, but it still isn't working right. It still makes the fabric hard. what to do? maybe add more? hmm...don't know! but here are pics!

I'm working on something a little different today. It's really fun but i'm not too sure how well it will go over in my Etsy shop. There is just something amazing in watching my larger drawing shrink down to this tiny treasure! Maybe I'm just weird but it totally takes me back to my childhood playing with this stuff with my mom. Even if I don't put any of this on Etsy, I'm still doing it for the fun of it! :)

Soooo I've made lots of fun things for my etsy shop! I'm trying my hand at scrapbook embellishments...so far i've only sold one set. so i'm not sure if it's going to take off or not. I'm still trying to figure out what works best for me. Internationl Festival! I had so much fun looking at all the things from other countries. Everything was SO colorful! I think next weekend I might try to take more pictures of all the cool stuff that was there.

He doesn't usually wear a scarf around his head...he was performing for Cricket, a new cell phone company. They were drumming on buckets...pretty cool.

I found these cool rings from an England based jewelry company. I got me and Heath one. I love the pounded look these have. I told Heath that's his engagement ring....hehe

Okay I'm so excited! So this super cool girl on the two peas in a bucket site saw my painting of my love bird tree and wanted me to paint one for her little boy. Apparantly she didn't think I was charging enough so she sent along $5 extra bucks plus quite a large amount of awesome scrapbooking supplies that I've never seen before. I was so excited to get that!! In some weird way it made me feel a lot better about spending $50 at Hobby Lobby today and not getting any scrapbook stuff! :)

We were talking about our hair being frizzy because of the humidity and a guy behind me in line was making fun of us so that's why we have weird smiles....whatever, she was really sweet and I'm glad I went! Okay, so this photo pretty much sums up the weekend. It could have definitely been better. Friday night was fun, minus some mishaps (credit card machines going down at the baseball stadium, people bein real greedy with their scoops of icecream, me not getting cotton candy, being appalled at the insane prices, etc). Saturday was rainy so we couldn't go to the zoo, had to go to a long, boring rehearsal for Easter program at church, went to the mall to look for a dress I saw online that I ended up not liking (and then thought I was getting a good deal on some cute tops and we had read the sign wrong), went to see Meet the Robinsons (cute movie) then to eat at Cafe Adobe...not such a good experience for numerous reasons that I will not go into. Needless to say we got a free meal. Sunday was alright. Heath had a gig at for Cricket (drumming on buckets) at a Children's festival downtown. My debit card wasn't working so again, no cotton candy....I was not a happy camper. Wore out, we came back to my apartment to watch Flicka and I fell asleep half way through it. Heath got a bad migraine and I thought he was dying...not good. So rarely do I ever say this but I'm kinda glad the weekend is over. There were some good points, but over all it was one I could have done without. Hope everyone's weekend was better!

This weekend the guys sang at Chappel Hill Texas for a revival. We stayed at Ray and Bev's house and it is gorgeous there! They have a big pond, horses, rolling hills and a swing bed on their front porch! The bluebonnets are starting to bloom and they are so pretty! I love being out in the country, especially in the springtime! Such a great weekend!

So....the lady I work for dropped me and C off at the zoo today. At first I was like...how fun is it gonna be to go to the zoo by myself with a 3 year old? But it was actually really fun. Quite challenging trying to fight with that stroller but we had a great day. I think the funnest thing we did was go to the petting zoo. We got to pet the cute little goats. They just crack me up. Here are a few pics!

My little sister has been doing Photography in her Fine Arts class this past week, so this weekend she got to practice. We had a lot of fun with this. We hauled our props across the road to the field by our house. My dad pulled up while we were doing this and rolled his window down and just looked at us. I know we looked ridiculous, me in my sweet little dress and big clunky roxy tennies and cayliegh dragging mom's gardening wagon with a big chair and blanket in it. He just shook his head and we just smiled and said, "Photo shoot!" It was pretty funny. We all went to the creek after spending some time in the field. Cayleigh was all scared that we were going to see a snake and threatening to kill me and Emily both if we did see one. We had just gotten down there and were trying to get climated to the cold water and we see this little crawfish swimming. We were like, OMG that's so cool, when all of a sudden Emily yell's "snake!" and we see this tiny little snake slithering through the water right past us. Cayleigh took off running through the water yelling words that we could barely understand. I'm freakin out and laughing at her at the same time. It was great...I've never seen Cayleigh move that fast in her entire life! :)

I'm finally engaged! So so so happy! It feels kinda weird though, like it didn't really happen...but I know it did cause I have the ring to prove it! And it's beautiful! I love it. I don't have to go visit it anymore at the jewelry store! Haha! Heath did such a good job with everything! I couldn't sleep last night! Agh!! I'm going to get married! :)

Tomorrow I will be 24 years old. Geeze...time has gone by fast. Heath is taking me to a nice Italian restaurant. Yuuummmm...I think Italian is my favorite. I'm kinda picky but I like chicken, pasta and anything parmesian(sp?), so Italian is safe for me. I love my boyfriend. Our relationship isn't always perfect, and we may not think this at the time, but the imperfections and how we handle them are what make it so sweet. :) Here we are on our Valentines Day date. So cute....

I am going to turn 24 on the 7th of this month...to me that sounds really old. I don't feel like I should be in my almost mid-20s. This doesn't mean I have to stop shopping at Forever 21 does it? I guess not...since it IS called Forever 21. I try to think back to when I was just graduating from highschool...where did I forsee myself to be at this age? Probably married with atleast one very young child...but doing what else, I don't know. Funny, but that's where just about all the people I graduated with are right now (with or without the married part). I'm okay with where I am right now. I'm happy at this point in my life. I just feel like I got a late start on being an adult. I don't know...I'm not going to worry about it either. I think about how I am right now and I cannot imagine being a parent already. I'm still too selfish. I've learned that through my job. I know feeling like an adult will come in time....then I probably will wish I didn't feel so much like an adult!

So glad that is finally over with. I think we are all settled in our new apartment/condo. I am beginning to like my room. It's spacious and I love love love my balcony. It was so nice yesterday I took a nap in the sunshine and fresh air without even having to leave my room! *sigh* What's more nice is that we actually have a washer/dryer IN our apartment...no more hauling my clothes everywhere. Now I can just pop them in there. I actually get to work quicker because I don't have to deal with a bunch of stoplights. And we thought our cable was messed up but i figured out all you have to do is do a channel search on the tv and tada! We have more channels than we thought we did! All we need now is to get our internet figured out and we will be all set!

Moving Day....

I've got most of my things packed and ready to go....just a few things left to put in boxes I don't have. I need to find a couple more. Moving, I have decided, is not my favorite thing to do. I don't have many things this time around, but it is still a great hassle. I will be glad to be in my new room. And the living room has so much more room to spread out my scrapping stuff. And who can beat having 4 balconies to let in sunlight? It will be interesting to see how I'm going to find my way around downtown....I'm so great with directions. :)

Valentine's Day was fun. Heath and I went to see The Painted Veil and then to what I would call a high class restaurant, since I don't really go to super nice restaurants. Got a great picture of our fried calamari, I'm still not sure what it is exactly...but i have an idea that it is some sort of an octupus-looking animal. Heath got me some sweet pink roses and a Valentine Build-A-Bear wearing Hello Kitty pjs, which surprises me since I lost last year's...I still get sad thinking about that. :( It was a fun and interesting night. Always love going on dates with my honey! Love you babe!

What a great weekend. They just don't last long enough. The visit at my parents house went well. My little sister took some pictures of me and Heath. I think they turned out really good. Today is THURSDAY! That means tomorrow is FRIDAY and I'm ready for the weekend!! Heath and I are going back to Louisiana to see my family. I haven't been there since Christmas, so I'm well overdue. My sister's birthday was in January and I've had her present since then. She's probably given up on it. Tonight I'm going with my cousin to look at where we will be living come next weekend. It's a condo in a highrise downtown...should be interesting. Not near as pretty a location as our apartments are now, but it's just temporary. I did some quick layouts last night while we watched American Idol. {I'm glad they are finished showing the really bad people. I can only take so much!} Here they are...nothing special but I like them.

I also just realized my youngest sister's birthday is coming up at the end of this month...I guess I will be making a quick trip to Hobby Lobby to start on her gift! The projects never end! I hope I get Heath's Valentines Day gift done! Aaahh! Where has the time gone!?

It's almost Valentines Day! I am so excited...I just love it. My favorite color is everywhere and I get to celebrate the day with my wonderful, super cute and funny and sweet and thoughtful boyfriend! In honor of our 1 year and 6 months together as of this month, here is our first picture we ever took together...it makes me smile looking at this picture and thinking about all the things that came before and after. I knew that he was a keeper. I'm so glad I will get to spend this Valentine's day with the greatest guy in the world!

I'm so ready for the weekend to be here. Not that I don't like being a nanny, I'm just tired and would like to sleep past 7:00. We have to move out of our apartment. They are going to tear down the whole complex and make it into a retail and residential area. Our complex is old, there are tons of elderly people living there who have lived there forever. It's sad that they will have to find some place else to live. I'm not looking forward to moving my stuff again, but it will be fun to have possibly bigger bedroom. Maybe I can eventually get a desk to put my computer and scrapbook stuff on. That would be good. I'm tired of storing my scrapbook supplies in shoe boxes. Anyway...that's all I have to say for now.

Rainy Day...

My first post! How so very exciting! Latley I've been totally inspired by creative people. I have been wanting to work on my scrapbooking and other projects that I have started but I don't seem to have time to! And when I finally have time to I don't have the supplies I need! I honestly don't think I will ever have enough scrapbooking supplies! Last night I was in the middle of a project that I really need to get done and I ran out of double stick tape...terrible. One day when I grow up {ha} I'm going to have my own creative shop and I'm going to have all the scrapbook and art supplies I would ever want!

It's such a gloomy day today. I'm beginning to wonder if the sun will ever show its face again. Cold and rainy days are napping days, sipping hot chocolate days, scrapping til your heart's content days, cuddling days. I love this weather if I can sleep in. It's not so fun having to get up at the crack of dawn and fight Houston traffic in the pouring rain. But that's the price you have to pay for growing up. It must be nice to be a 3 year old. What I don't understand is why little kids get up so early! I would do anything to get to sleep til 9 or10 and this little kid is up at 7 and 7:30. Crazy.....
